Associate Director, Structures

Haltbau Ingenieurs

Head of the timber group: eleven engineers, a portfolio averaging €140M of construction value per year. Own the technical position on every CLT scheme the office takes on.

  • Led the structure for De Vlothaven, a 14-storey CLT-and-concrete hybrid — the tallest timber residential block completed in the Netherlands to date.
  • Wrote the office's connection standard for screwed CLT wall panels, now referenced by two other Dutch practices.
  • Cut average embodied carbon across the portfolio from 312 to 198 kgCO₂e/m².

Senior Structural Engineer

Van Osch & Partners

Delivered mid-rise mixed-use frames across the Rijnmond region, moving the practice from its default concrete flat-slab toward hybrid timber floors.

  • Structural lead on the Katendrecht Market Hall — 38 m clear-span glulam trusses, delivered eight weeks ahead of programme.
  • Introduced vibration-serviceability testing on completed timber floors; findings fed back into the design model.

Structural Engineer

Brunnhofer Tragwerk AG

Alpine practice with a heavy retrofit workload. Assessed and strengthened 1960s concrete stock against revised Swiss seismic provisions.

  • Non-linear pushover assessment of 22 school buildings for the Canton of Graubünden.
  • Detailed the timber roof replacement for the Chur ice rink, a 46 m three-pin glulam arch.

Graduate Engineer

Rijkswaterstaat, Bridges Division

Inspection and load-rating of movable steel bridges on the national waterway network. Learned to read a structure from its corrosion pattern before opening a model.

Research Assistant, Timber Structures

TU Delft, Faculty of CEG

Laboratory testing of self-tapping screw withdrawal in beech LVL; contributed data to two conference papers.
