Kandinsky asked the whole school to assign a colour to each elementary shape. The answers were nearly unanimous, and we have taught them without apology ever since. Choose one — the building will follow you.

Each workshop occupies one elementary figure. The figure is not an illustration of the workshop; it is the workshop's plan drawing, at 1:200.

02 — Manifesto

“There is no craft that improves by being hidden. Build the joint so it can be read from across the room.”

Rules

  1. Draw before you speakEvery proposal enters the room as a drawing at true scale, or it does not enter.
  2. Three colours are enoughRed, blue, yellow, plus the ink and the paper. Mixtures are permitted only in the dye workshop.
  3. The grid is a promiseOnce the module is set at 48 millimetres, nothing in the term may fall between the lines.
  4. Finish the backThe unseen face of an object is graded exactly as the seen face.
