Scheme 14 · Ferrous House, Hoxton Issue for comment

A board of plaster, brass and cold light.

Fourteen finishes pinned loose over a working grid — the way we actually specify, before anything is tidied into a spreadsheet. Overlap is information: what touches, touches on site too.

Specifier notes

Read the board in raking light, never overhead.

Every sample on this board was photographed and viewed at 09:00 and 16:00 against the actual north glazing. Colours chosen under studio light have a habit of collapsing on site.

Where two finishes overlap on the board, they meet on the drawing. The junction detail carries the same reference number as the pair.

Outstanding
  • Bardiglio block viewing — Petra Nord yard, week 22.
  • Terracotta tolerance confirmed in writing before setting out.
  • Brass patina expectation signed off by client (verbal, minute it).
  • Linen fade allowance noted in the O&M manual.
