Nothing disappears. Every account balances: the volume entering a node equals the volume leaving it. Where field telemetry disagreed with the mass balance by more than 0.4 GL, the difference was assigned to evapotranspiration and flagged in the appendix rather than silently absorbed.
Snowpack figures come from 44 automated pillow stations; conveyance is metered at 19 canal gates on a fifteen-minute cadence. Reclaimed return is the only account measured twice — once at the plant outfall, once at the canal head — which is why it carries the tightest error bar in the basin.
