Design Lab — Sample 397

Driftboard

A specimen board with weight. Pick up a card, give it a shove, and it arcs out on its own momentum — tilting into the throw, ricocheting off the edges, then springing home on an elastic settle.

Drag to move. Flick fast to throw. Focus a card and use to shove it, Enter to send it home.

Six specimen cards you can drag and throw with a pointer, or move with the keyboard. Each card is focusable: use the arrow keys to shove it and Enter to spring it back to its home position. Every card springs back to its home layout after a throw.

Draggable specimen card. Arrow keys shove it, Enter springs it home.

Field Note

“Give a thing weight and people believe it. A card that arcs into its own throw and reels back on a spring feels less like software and more like a thing you own.”
